About You

The last time you felt the bastard child of the green belt
sitting on the fence in a circle of pretenses.
A room without a view is the best that you can do
there's a hairdressers too, but they'll only do a crew cut.

Were you having tea?
Were you having it with me?
Drawing circles on your hot cross buns just to see
if you're as alternative as you always meant to be.
I was always a sucker for a clever conversation.

You catch your reflection in a satellite dish
or in the windows of a passing car.
Millions of people want to risk it for a biscuit
but they never really got very far.
